Come un morto ad Acapulco
A film by Alessio Pizzicannella
Svizzera 2014; o.v. Italian; 18 min
Synopsis
Sara writes soap operas — a job that forces her to exaggerate and trivialize other people’s lives. When the characters born of her imagination and those from her real life begin to overwhelm her, she seeks isolation as her only remedy, retreating far from everyone in search of inspiration and originality. Unfortunately for her, even taking refuge in a mountain house is itself a cliché of the frustrated writer, and the very stereotypes she is trying to escape soon return to haunt her, knocking at her door.
What begins with all the makings of a classic thriller gradually turns into a grotesque comedy with surreal undertones. Reluctantly forced to listen to her visitors’ demands, Sara first learns how to confront their dissatisfaction, and then how to resolve it. In doing so, she finally manages to live her own life — and, at last, to bring her own unresolved issues to an end.
