Synopsis
On March 26, 2012, in Biasca, Swiss Minister of Defence Ueli Maurer declared: “Annexing Lombardy would not be a problem for us.”
The statement by the Swiss People’s Party Federal Councillor seemed like a provocation, but the following day Lega Nord launched a petition to transfer Lombardy to Switzerland; within a few hours, thousands of signatures were collected.
Behind these two events, which largely went unnoticed, lies one of the greatest political maneuvers of the post-war era: the annexation of Lombardy by Switzerland.
Today, the protagonists of this affair — including Moritz Leuenberger, Marco Borradori, and former official Andrea Zürcher — finally reveal the secrets of this international conspiracy, in which the Swiss government, Silvio Berlusconi, Goldman Sachs, and Elio e le Storie Tese confronted one another.
