Synopsis
With “Villa Ventura,” I aim to portray the oscillations of desire at the very core of the characters, to convey the energy vibrating between them, without fear of ambiguity. Considering ambiguity a strength of the film, I chose an elliptical narrative form that unsettles the viewer, forcing them to confront the uncertainty of off-screen actions. This leaves ample room for the viewer’s imagination.
“Villa Ventura” is a film in which the characters’ gazes and their gestures—sometimes almost imperceptible—play a crucial role. The sensitivity of the mise-en-scène shapes the tone of the film, which moves between the touching and the humorous, between lightness and depth.
